With Gratitude

So I have been contemplating this whole blog thing for over six months now and finally decided that today would be the day that I "woman up" (that's for you Linds) and give it a whirl. And why not? It's a brand new year, it's off to an amazing start and I have some pictures - both personal and professional that I would like to share with you all.

Translation: I would love for this blog to serve as an avenue where I can share my work and not bore you with meaningless daily Facebook-like status updates.  Therefore, I hereby make this promise to you that I will never ever refer to my amazingly supportive, handsome, smart husband as "husby" or my oh so favorite new term, "hubs". Never ever . . . that is my vow to you. Which brings me to Kris.

Which I should show a little bit of gratitude to MySpace for my husband . . . it's a long story for another time. Here is his sweet face.
And thank you Kris and Jessica, for the ever-talented and most amazingly sweet stepson, Ethan. Not only can he pick up and play nearly every instrument in sight, but he pretty much has the biggest heart imaginable. I only wish I had known him from day one.
If it weren't for these two, Kris and Ethan wouldn't be in my life. Thank you Deby and Charlie for being the best in-laws a girl could ever hope for. Congratulations on Celebrating your 35th Anniversary in December. My marriage reaps the benefits of your example and I love you both so much.

Which brings me to Kim and James, you two created the most adorable and squishy niece in the world, Abigail Ruth. Thank you for bringing so much joy into our lives with this gorgeous fun-loving baby.

This wouldn't be complete without me sharing my side of things.

My mom turned 60 this year on November 6th and we (my sisters, Amanda and Katie) surprised her with a getaway weekend to Gruene, Texas. Without this lady, I would be a spoiled, uptight, no fun, unadventurous, unintelligent, no talent . . . well, you get the picture. Jane - my mom is loved by all, but especially by her three, grateful daughters. Thank you for all of your sacrifices and for molding us into who we are today. Kris thanks you too.
Below is a shot from our wedding, with my mom and sisters. I don't know where I would be without them, but I do know that I wouldn't be able to take a joke if it wasn't for them. Amanda (in the center and oldest sister) will be getting married this October to Dieter and Katie (on the left and middle sister) will be getting married next February to Brent. Very exciting times lie ahead and my heart is full knowing that they have each found the loves of their lives. Congratulations to my sweet sisters!

And then there's my dad, Pete - who also, like my mom is loved by all, but mainly for his self-deprecating sense of humor and quick wit. I like to think that I inherited at least a small portion of his nature and definitely believe that I got the best of both worlds from these two. Thank you for bringing me into this crazy world, I love you both so much.

This definitely would not be complete without me mentioning my grandparents, Dorothy and Blake. They have been married for over 60 years and are still going strong and definitely have all of their marbles in tact. I am so fortunate to still have these two amazingly supportive, sweet, funny people in my life, because I do not know what I would do without my Maw Maw and Paw Paw. They definitely deserve a future post dedicated to their story and honoring their amazing journey together. Thank you both for always being just a short drive and phone call away. There are absolutely no words for how much my heart belongs to you both.

And I conclude with the best wedding gift we received . . . Lucy. She was a homeless, flea-infested, gypsy of a dog who was rescued by Kris' former boss, Jim. Again, I promise to not post too many pictures of her, but her ears are just too cute to not photograph.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this thing. I don't know what it will morph into, but I can tell that I already caught the blogger bug. More pictures and posts to come . . .

Best wishes,

P.S. Please excuse the mishaps in spacing, etc. I am very new to Blogger and have a lot to learn about HTML. :)
